The quick release plate (QRP) does not lock/stay locked on to the tilt plate

With the Quick Release Plate (QRP) removed, ensure that the two spring-loaded metal tabs at the top of the tilt plate

can be depressed and that they spring back
    .
If they do not spring back, please contact us and we will arrange a repair.

If the tabs spring back normally and the QRP still does not lock, check to see if anything attached to the QRP is sticking out at all.
All screws should be attached so that the heads are "flush" with the QRP.

If you are having problems with your QRP, please make sure that you that you engage the RedLock to prevent accidental unlocking.

Finally, if none of these seem to be solving the issue - please contact us and we will arrange a repair.

Joints don't lock / unlock easily

Has the joint friction ever been adjusted on your Mount'n Mover?

In some cases, when the friction adjustment has been tightened too far (when the plastic cover comes loose)

    - this can interfere with the joint locking mechanism.
Try to back off the friction screw for that joint and try moving it into a locked position.

If the joint still does not lock, over-tightened friction can permanently deform internal components.
You will have to send this in for repair.

If the Mount'n Mover has the "factory setting" for the joint friction, and one or more of the joints do not unlock easily -some internal components may have worn.
Usually, this problem affects the shoulder joint before the elbow joint.
Fortunately, internal components have been redesigned to perform better and last longer.
(Refer to "improved mechanism" under the Service Plan section)
If you are still under warranty, this is covered - otherwise, we can fix it per our Service Plan

Lock setters do not move / are difficult to move

You CANNOT unlock a setter that corresponds to a current locked position.

Lock setters will not move up if the friction adjustment screw is directly above it.

Unlock the joint using the hoop or paddle and move the mount so that the friction adjustment screw is not above the lock setter that you are trying to move.

Lock setters usually require a small tool such as a flat-head screwdriver or a penny, to move up or down.

Though they are typically only set once when initially setting up the mount, repeated "programming" may cause premature wear.

There is a lot of play/slop in my mount

    Roundclamp is slipping
If at all possible, attach the roundclamp to a tubing section that is not horizontal (refer to examples 1, 2 and 3 for round tube wheelchair attachment)
This reduces the effect of any slippage in clamping to a round.

    WB has too much play
The adjustable wheelchair bracket requires a little play in the mechanism to allow for adjustment.

There are specific steps you can take to reduce the play:
Be sure and adjust the Phillips screw tightly-using Loctite when you are certain of the position.
Secondly, tighten the bolt heads once you've determined the optimal angle. You may need to do this before it is attached.
DO NOT take the Wheelchair Bracket apart, unless you consult with the BlueSky Designs staff.

Be sure you set the angle so it is vertical when the wheelchair is set to the angle a person uses when the wheelchair is in motion.
If you can attach to the wheelchair so that the bracket is very close to vertical or horizontal, we suggest going with the Solid Wheelchair Bracket (WB2) - which has no play whatsoever

The Mount'n Mover is not clamping well to the post
The Link-bolt might require more tightening.
Since you are bending aluminum to clamp to the post, this will require a bit of effort.
On rare occasions, the Link bolt and nut have "frozen", and cannot be tightened enough. Contact us if this occurs.

    Movement in the Shoulder Joint
There is around ¼" free movement at the Shoulder joint.
Due to several design features (the fine tuner and breakaway), and the achievable manufacturing tolerances, there is some play.
If you require it to be "Solid", we can modify it to fix it in place.

Positioning strategy: Set the lock positions such that when it reaches the end of "play", it is in the correct position.

The clamp that holds the post is not working!

Cam-clamps on the wheelchair brackets, table clamps and floor-stands all work similarly.
Please review this video showing cam-clamp adjustment on the adjustable wheelchair bracket (WB)

Don't forget about the height set screw! (go to video) If the clamp is not working, it will still be right where you want it!

How do I mount the Mount'n Mover onto my wheelchair?

Please refer to our wheelchair mounting section for the more common wheelchair types.

If the specific wheelchair you are looking for is not covered:
Please contact us with some more info.
Since every wheelchair is different - the best way to make SURE the Mount'n Mover will fit a specific wheelchair is if you could send us some pictures!

If you could provide us with:
    • one picture of the entire wheelchair (with the user in it) from the side.
    • one picture with a close-up of right under the seat cushion close to the user's knees, from the side of the wheelchair.
    • one wide picture of from the front of the wheelchair, so we can determine lateral clearance.

    Couple of other questions that might affect the quote;
    • Does the person use a laptray and if so, will they be using their device and laptray at the same time?
    • If they use a laptray, please include it in the pictures
