The Mount'n Mover does not just mount something in a static position. It is able to be repositioned, often by end users. It is far more independently accessible and repositionable by individuals with physical limitations than any other mount. Arguments to be made for medical necessity might include the following features and functions:

Benefits of repositioning (independent or assisted)

• to better or more independently access things attached to a wheelchair
• to move it out of the way to access something else or to get close to a table, counter, toilet, sink, or workstation
• able to move it out of the way for transfers (independent or assisted)
• ablility to unlock and rotate a device/tray, and/or adjust the tilt angle improves a person’s visual access, making it possible to see more clearly, interact, or more safely or easily achieve other goals (ie, driving a wheelchair, talking, watching the television, use the computer)
• reposition a device to reduce glare on the communication device or laptop computer screen
• angle may be adjusted as a person’s positioning changes in the course of a day, making it possible to more easily access communication devices or other controls
• Able to reposition it in close to torso or above lap to get into tighter spaces, such as elevators or through a doorway

Access from a tilted position

• Able to safely tilt wheelchair and access communication device from a reclined position in wheelchair, with mounting device in locked position

Access to more than one thing or activity

• Able to operate from multiple positions-- ie, move out of the way yet have access while eating or working
• Turntable capability allows a person to unlock and rotate the platform to access multiple things, such as drinks, emergency call device, a phone, controls, food, communcation device

Maximum accessibility and independent repositioning

• Low effort levers to unlock and reposition it; requires less than 2 pounds of force
• Dual arm version minimizes reach required to reposition or retrieve it
• Competitor’s swingaway takes approx. 5 pounds to unlock, requires much greater range of motion, and swings to a non-functional position
• Reduces the chance of uncontrolled dropping or impact of device as it is repositioned (as in folding mounts)
• Far more accessible than other mounts; requires less effort, gross movement and minimal dexterity
• One-handed use to unlock and reposition; hoop unlocks shoulder and elbow; paddle stays unlocked for rotation
• Automatically looks for another lock position
• Device platform rotates, bringing more things within reach (ie, food, drink, communication, phone, controls, call buttons)

• Able to reposition easily, without tools (using tilt or device rotation) to minimize glare and access communication device

Safety of the person and the attached equipment

• Safe and low effort movement; no lifting required; horizontal movement to reposition
• Dual arm version can stay in closer to the wheelbase of the chair when moved out of the way, making it less likely to tip
• Easy to quickly move out of the way in case of emergency (aspiration, seizure), without removing the device
• Able to move it out of the way, but leave device on chair for transfers (safer for attached equipment)

Safer for driving/wheeling with ability to reposition

• Able to change the tilt angle or otherwise reposition it for clear visual access while driving a wheelchair
• Able to move it closer in to a person’s torso, when driving wheelchair to minimize width and to pass through doors
• Breakaway feature protects the device if a person leaves it outside their wheelchair and runs into a wall
